Tips to enjoy the sea
The fundamental thing when choosing the beach where to spend an unforgettable day is to make sure that you are allowed to enter the sea. If the chosen beach has a sign indicating any type of prohibition, it is essential to respect it. Similarly, it is advisable to avoid areas where water vehicles transit or water sports are practiced.
The beach flags are another indication to take into account in the areas where it is allowed to enter the sea. It is important to respect the color of the flag to avoid dangerous situations. Likewise, it is of utmost importance that the beach we choose has at least one lifeguard. In the event that we suffer an accident, he will be the right person to help us, preventing our inconvenience from becoming a bigger problem.
In the sea, the most advisable thing is not to swim in places that are very deep or to risk swimming without knowing the depth of the surface. It is recommended not to stray unnecessarily from the coast to avoid the current dragging you. In case the current takes you away from the coast, it is essential to stay calm. In no case should you try to swim against it as it will only cause exhaustion. You must swim parallel to shore allowing it to carry you and trying to get out at a 45 degree angle. Once you get out of it, the waves will carry you towards the sand. Finally, do not forget that if you feel tired and you cannot get out of the current, you can ask for the help of the lifeguard.
Another big problem of the sea is the jellyfish. You must be careful as contact with the skin can cause pain, swelling and even injury. If by any warning it is known that there are jellyfish in the area, avoid entering the water and especially, the areas where the waves break since that is where you are most vulnerable.
Tips for enjoying the beach
If what you prefer is to be in the sun and enjoy the beach day, you should also take precautions. Try not to expose yourself to the rays of the sun during midday, which is when they are the most dangerous and, therefore, the most sensitive your skin will be. Always carry a high factor sunscreen with you, especially if you go with children, and apply it every two hours and when you leave the sea. While most products are waterproof, spending a lot of time swimming reduces their effectiveness. It is best to prevent and reapply it to avoid burns. If you plan to spend the whole day on the beach, take an umbrella with you to avoid long exposures to the sun, especially between noon and 4 in the afternoon. An umbrella every two or three people will be enough.
Just as important is that you stay hydrated to avoid heat stroke and discomfort. Do not assume that, being in the sea, you will be able to drink its water since the high content of salt is very harmful to health and will cause dehydration. Make sure you take an ice box with you that contains at least two liters of water per person. You can also consume juices, smoothies or iced tea to quench your thirst and stay hydrated. Similarly, a good diet is essential to spend a day at the beach without feeling exhausted. Choosing fast and fatty foods will make you feel bloated and tired. Choose light meals and fruits that also provide water to feel good and make the most of your day.
